Kate Winslet Embraces Her Age and Body Confidence in Upcoming Film ‘Lee’
Hollywood star Kate Winslet is unapologetically comfortable in her own skin and wants everyone she works with to understand this. The 48-year-old actress recently addressed comments made by a crew member on the set of her new film about war photographer Lee Miller, as reported by Mirror.co.uk.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Winslet shared a specific incident where she was told, “you might want to sit up straighter” to hide her “belly rolls” while filming a scene in a bikini. She responded emphatically, stating, “Not in your life! It was deliberate, you know?”
When asked if she minded looking her age on screen, Winslet expressed the opposite sentiment: “I take pride in it because it is my life on my face, and that matters. It wouldn’t occur to me to cover that up.”
As she approaches her 50th birthday, Kate has set a goal to celebrate by completing 50 remarkable things. She explained, “I want to spend the year doing 50 remarkable things, whether that’s a particular hike I’ve never done or acts of kindness. I’m gathering a little list.”
Her new film, Lee, which tells the story of the fashion model who became a Second World War photographer for Vogue, is set to be released next month.
In June, Winslet opened up about her experiences in the spotlight following her iconic role in Titanic. She revealed feeling "beaten up" by commentary on her body after starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1997 blockbuster. “I actually felt a bit beaten up by it, truth be told… I had a lovely family, but all my family saw is 'My God, Kate's got work in a really big film,’” she recounted. “One doesn't want to turn around to your mum and dad and say 'it's really hard, actually'.”
